SISTec-E Library

Welcome to the SISTec-R Library has a rich collection of books and journals in the field of Basic Sciences, Electrical, Electronics, Computer Science and Information Science, Mechanical, Civil Engineering Books and related areas. Library collection also includes documents for competition materials, Fictions, Stories, General books, Encyclopaedias and Dictionaries, Magazines, CD-DVDs, projects (minor and major) etc. It is spread over 400 meter, and houses more than 30,000 books and other documents. The Library subscribes to more than 60 national and international journals.

It provides widest possible access to information and this is reflected in the range of services provided by it. The Library spares no efforts to fulfil its mission by selecting, acquiring, organizing, reserving, maintaining, and providing access to a collection of materials and electronic resources that address the needs of the academic community.

Library Automation

SISTec-R Library is fully automated with all possible modern facilities. At present, the Library offers services such as lending facility; Claims/Reservations; Renewals; Reading Room; Library Activities etc. The Library organizes various training programs/informative sessions for e-resources and also for print resources. The Digital Library section houses a good number of computers for browsing, accessing e-journals, e-books and for searching the Library database using OPAC. SISTec-R Library is automated with SOUL 2.0 is the software used for Circulation, Procurement, OPAC and Project Reports. All the library documents are bar-coded and books are issued to users by reading the barcode of the document.

Digital / E-Library Facility at Central Library

The Central Library has a separate Digital Library room equipped with computers and laptops for the use of staff and students to access the e-resources and other information sources subscribed by the Library.

DELNET [Developing Library Network]

Inter Library Loan Services is provided to get full text articles from journals published by various publishers by DELNET. For Inter Library Loan i.e. for document Delivery Services, our library has made use of DELNET services.To access DELNET go to following link- http://delnet.nic.in

The DELNET link provides access to Union catalogue of the many engineering Libraries. It provides access to 487 journals and 2087 e-books full text available in the library. This union catalogue helps for sharing the resources, which is not available in our library. The users can request articles and books which are not available with us. DELNET charges nominal fees for photocopy and postal services.

NDL [National Digital Library]

The Central Library is also a member of NDL which gives access to e-books. The database has 63,00,000 Books starting from primary to PG Level. There are more than 1,50,000 Engineering e-books.

(i) Courses on View
Engineering and Science courses recorded live in the classrooms of IIT Bombay are now available for everyone.
(ii) Spoken Tutorial
Portal offers tutorials in multiple languages on various free-and-open-source software. Interested users may add their tutorials in any language of their choice.
(iii) A-View
Offers two components:
A-VIEW Classroom
A-VIEW Classroom is a framework that provides a rich interactive social environment for E-Learning. It is simple, user friendly video conferencing software, which provides a great opportunity to a teacher to teach in a live interactive mode to various geographical locations across India.
A-VIEW Classroom provides opportunity to connect several universities together and creates virtual world for students. It also acts as a Knowledge Cafe where students can discuss /chat about the lecture after the live class.
A-VIEW Meeting
A-VIEW Meeting is essentially a conference center where meeting halls have no walls. It enables your colleagues from across the globe to interact face-to-face with you electronically and conduct live meetings, presentations or training from the comfort of their desks. A-VIEW Meeting is currently used by senior officials in the Ministry of Human Resource Development for their communications with organizations all over the world.
Virtual Labs
To provide remote-access to Labs in various disciplines of Science and Engineering. These Virtual Labs would cater to students at the undergraduate level, post graduate level as well as to research scholars.
To share costly equipment and resources, which are otherwise available to limited number of users due to constraints on time and geographical distances.
To provide a complete Learning Management System around the Virtual Labs where the students can avail the various tools for learning, including additional web-resources, video-lectures, animated demonstrations and self evaluation.

Central Library Rules

Mission

SISTec Central Library provides resources like text books, reference books, newspapers, magazines, audio-visual documents etc. to enhance the learning ability of students and staff. These resources are organized with best available tools & techniques. SISTec library offers additional time to access the library resources after working hours to ensure additional and better learning experience.

About the Library

SISTec Central Library is having more than 27452 volumes, E- resources, Database, videos, DVD's, and other materials to support learning and research. Apart from the print resources, a good number of electronic resources comprising journals, eBooks, and gateway portal to -journals are made accessible to the users on 6X8 basis within the campus. Other services include the curriculum of Library, study tables, printer, and related electronic equipment.

Code of Conduct

  • Library Timings

    SISTec Central Library timing is 9.15 am to 4.10 pm —Monday to Saturday, First and Third Saturday and holidays will be off for the library. Library remains open in the evening from 4:10 pm to 8:00 pm (after college hours) to facilitate the users and also to maximize the usage of library facility.

  • Cell Phones & Food in the Library

    SISTec Central Library is committed to providing a pleasant and noise free environment encouraging its smooth functioning. Every member of library is expected to stick to the following:

    1. Cell phone should be silent/off mode while in Library.
    2. Cell phone conversations should be kept short, preferably avoided.
    3. If necessary extended cell phone conversations should be taken outside the Library.
    4. Any kind of food, chocolate, soft drink, coffee, tea, juice is not allowed inside the library.
  • Notifications

    SISTec Central Library frequently update to students and staff about due dates and generate overdue notices for those who are not reporting to library according to their renew schedule.

  • Essential Library Rules

    SISTec Central Library has its essential library rules that all are requested to follow.

    1. Admission/Membership is restricted to only members of SISTec (Faculty, Staff and Students)
    2. Identity card is must for accessing the library facility – if any student loses an identity card he/she should immediately bring it to the notice of the librarian (in writing) and take duplicate ID by paying the necessary fees.
    3. Any Member entering into the library has to compulsorily enter his/her name in the register maintained at the entrance.
    4. All the personal belongings would be deposited at the entrance (at owner’s risk) in the allotted place.
    5. Only scribbling pad with writing instrument is permitted into the library.
    6. Maintenance of silence, discipline and decorum inside the library is mandatory.
    7. You are requested to handle the books carefully.
    8. In case of loss or damage of books, a penalty to the extent of three times the cost of book (if the book is readily available in the market) or Pay four times the cost (if the book is out of print). For a book from multi volume, 10 times of entire cost of the set is to be paid.
    9. The issue of books to members is as follows:
      • Faculties-8 books till semester end.
      • Students-5 books for 60 days
      • Staff 3 books for 60 days.
    10. The renewal of book is permissible, if it is not required by any other member.
    11. Physical presence is mandatory for getting the books issued/renewal.
    12. Students are advised to utilize the library lecture hour for procuring/returning books.
    13. NOC to a member will be issued only after all the books borrowed are returned.
    14. Fine for usage Overdue: @ Rs.1/day/book for first 15 days;
      • @ Rs.2/day/book exceeding first 15 days;
      • @ Rs.5/day/book exceeding one month limit.
    15. Strict action will be initiated if the above rules are violated.

NOTE: The librarian is solely authorized to take any disciplinary action against defaulters.
